Internal
Auditing
Auditing management systems ensures they are performing
effectively and identifies where improvements can be made.
Internal Auditing is a practical two-day course providing
the knowledge and confidence needed to complete effective
internal audits.
Participants learn the essentials of auditing, including:
- Managing an audit
- Conducting opening and closing meetings
- Interviewing staff
- Collecting objective information
- Relating findings to a standard
- Preparing reports that help management improve systems
and performance.
The basis for this course is:
ISO 19011 - Guidelines for quality and/or environmental
management systems auditing. The principles apply equally
to any management systems standard and examples and case studies
to illustrate this are used throughout the course.
PLEASE NOTE
Course prerequisite
A good working knowledge of the standard to be audited is
essential for all students of this course. Standards could
include:
- AS/NZS ISO 9001 Quality management systems –
Requirements
- AS/NZS 14001 Environmental management systems –
Specifications with guidance for use
- NZS 4801 Occupational health and safety management
systems – Specifications with guidance for use
- NZS ISO/IEC 17025 General requirements for the competence
of testing and calibration laboratories.

Management
Systems Auditing
Suitable for
RABQSA International qualifications
This two day course provides participants with the core
competencies to audit
management systems of all types based on the approach outlined
in the ISO 19011 standard.
Upon successful completion of this course participants will
have gained the following knowledge and skills and be able
to:
- Establish audit objectives, scope and criteria
- Schedule audits and develop site audit plans and audit
guidance tools
- Organise and direct audit team members
- Gather objective evidence using interviewing, observation
and sampling techniques
- Analyse and interpret information to determine conformance
with requirements
- Report audit findings, prepare audit reports and undertake
follow-up.
Prerequisites
It would be advantageous to have knowledge of management systems
and standards.
Suitable for:
- Those currently involved in any form of management systems
implementation
- Those carrying out audits and looking to gain formal
recognition of their knowledge and experience
- Those with expertise in areas such as environmental,
quality or safety management.
Introduction to ANDSAM Training
The New Zealand Quality College offers this course in partnership
with ANDSAM Training, which provides training and assessment
services specialising in the development, implementation and
auditing of management systems. ANDSAM Training is approved
by RABQSA International (RABQSA No. 013408).
Relevant RABQSA Competency Units
The training has been structured to address the
elements of competency required under the RABQSA International
competency units:
- RABQSA-EM Auditing Environmental Management Systems
- RABQSA-AU Auditing Management Systems
- RABQSA-TL Leading Management System Audit Teams.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will
receive a Certificate of Attainment.
Activities and Assessment
All training features assessment activities comprising a mix
of practical exercises, cases studies and written knowledge
based assignments.
NB. If you believe that you have already
acquired some or all of the competencies through training,
work or life experience, you can apply to ANDSAM Training
for Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).
Auditor Recognition Options
Participants may combine this course with either the NZQC
Implementing Quality Management Systems course to become a
Provisional Quality Auditor, or with the NZQC Implementing
Environmental Management Systems course to become a Provisional
Environmental Auditor under the RABQSA auditor certification
scheme.

The team of trainers is led by Andrew Schofield and Robert
Crowe, who have been consulting and auditing for over 20 years
in organisations from small businesses to large multinationals
throughout Australasia, South East Asia, the United Kingdom
and Europe.
This course

Implementation to create a five-day course during which
you gain a full understanding of implementing and auditing
management systems.

Cancellations and transfers
If you wish to cancel your attendance, please email or write
to us. You will be refunded your money in full if the cancellation
is received 14 days or more before the course starts. If you
cancel less than 14 days from the start of the course, you
will be refunded 50% of the fee you have paid. If you cancel
on the day the course commences, or any time thereafter, no
fee refunded will be made. Substitutions are acceptable at
any time.
Where possible, you may transfer your booking to another course.
A 10% transfer fee may be incurred for transfers received
less than 14 days from the start of the course. Transfers
made on the day a course commences, or any time thereafter,
will be treated as cancellations and will require payment
of a new fee.
