The laboratory must generate consistently reliable test results. End users depend on these for their business decisions. Analytical Method Validation is the key. It is essential.The laboratory may conduct validation to gain accreditation, by fulfilling requirements of NZS ISO/IEC 17025:2018 (substantially structurally changed from the previous edition) and ISO 15189.Even more compelling reasons include the need to:
- Determine and understand the characteristics of their analytical methods;
- Identify critical influences, capabilities and limitations of the methods.
The course includes sessions /workshops on:
- Considerations, guidelines, perspective of NZS ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 15189 and statistical background
- Systematic approach to validation/verification;
- Performance characteristics of laboratory methods;
- Factors impacting on analytical method validation;
- Measurement uncertainty and traceability, with worked examples; relation with validation.
This two day interactive course is designed for laboratory personnel and managers to learn about the concepts and process of Analytical Method Validation, also Verification and apply that knowledge in their laboratory, as necessary. While the emphasis of this course is on chemical testing, the principles are also applicable to biological or bioanalytical testing.
Other staff would also find the course of value. For example, senior staff may wish to understand the details of validation for a variety of reasons including personal development or organisational planning. Graduates would benefit for knowledge update. Laboratory and supervisory staff would benefit through more meaningful conduct of routine testing and interpretation of validation / verification data.
Participants should bring a test method that they intend to validate in their laboratory.
