This three day course provides participants with the core competencies to implement environmental management systems to meet the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard.

Upon successful completion of this course participants will have gained the following knowledge and skills and be able to:

  • Understand the terminology, intent and how to meet the requirements of ISO 14001
  • Use environmental management tools such as aspect and impact evaluation to identify how an organisation’s processes can impact on ecosystems.
  • Set up environmental management systems and document procedures to identify methods of environmental protection and assist in ensuring legal compliance.
  • Use monitoring and measurement techniques to evaluate effectiveness of the environmental management system.

Exemplar Global Recognition

When combined with the Exemplar Global-AU Auditing Environmental Management Systems competency unit, this course qualifies participants to become an EMS Auditor under the Exemplar Global Auditor Certification Scheme.


Whilst not essential, it would be advantageous to have some knowledge of management systems and Standards.

Auditor Recognition Options

Participants may combine this course with the NZQC Management Systems Auditing course to become a QMS Auditor under the Exemplar Global auditor certification scheme.

All training features assessment activities comprising a mix of practical exercises, case studies and written knowledge based assignments. Note If you believe that you have already acquired some or all of the competencies through training, work or life experience, you can apply to ANDSAM Training for Recognition of Current Competence (RCC).


The team of trainers is led by Andrew Schofield and Robert Crowe, who have been consulting and auditing for over 20 years in organisations from small businesses to large multinationals throughout Australasia, South East Asia, the United Kingdom and Europe.
